[IMCAS Asia 2026 Special ㉒ | Interview] "Clinical Evidence Is the Key to a Lasting Competitive Edge" — John Kim, CEO, Bluecore Company
A competitive gap built on price has to be rebuilt somewhere else the moment a rival matches you on quality. At IMCAS Asia 2026 in Bangkok, we met John Kim, CEO of Bluecore Company, the manufacturer of PICOREMAX, CureMax, and Trinity. Kim believes clinical data is the only thing that can build a sustainable competitive edge over lower-cost Chinese devices, reasoning that clinical data and treatment parameters cannot be easily matched simply by building a comparable device. Bluecore's largest market is Japan; the company is expanding its base across Southeast Asia, including Malaysia and Singapore, while preparing to enter India and the Americas. The day before IMCAS Asia opened, it held its inaugural BLUE ALLIANCE DAY, broadening its engagement with Asian buyers. He pointed to regulatory asymmetry as a key challenge for overseas expansion. Drawing on the company's own experience, he noted that market entry can take more than three years in China and three to four years in Europe following the transition from the MDD to the MDR, while foreign devices enter the Korean market comparatively quickly. What companies need, he said, is not subsidies but a level playing field.
